Yahtzeeee.....get up, get out, and get some powdaa please!

With 18-24 inches overnight adding onto a 100 inch base and 367 inch season total, we are experiencing some of the best mid-season conditions that we have seen in the past few years! We expected the storm to move fast but luckily for us, it looks like it stalled over Sierra last night meaning conditions are prime as we head into March!

Current temperatures at the base are in the mid 30's with mostly cloudy skies and light winds. More snow is expected to fall before 4pm with a possible 1-3 inches. Sierra Resort is your best bet on stormy days due to our wind protected lifts, giving you access to top to bottom skiing and riding. With these conditions, it is the perfect time to join a friend for some action in the legendary trees and all five Gates!

Everybody. Just chill......

......Because with deals that will deliver a grand time, events that will put awesome dents in your day, and more powder on the way starting today....we are sweetly saying sianara to February!

Sunday marks the last day of this month and I'm happy to say, shout actually that we are currently sitting on a 102" base with 350"s of snowfall to date for the season! Another system has moved in today, with an expected foot and a half by Sunday morning; adding onto the 2 feet we''ve received in the past 7 days! Powdaa prayers have been answered!

With these amazing conditions, I would have to say that now is the perfect time to learn how to ski or ride! For just 35 buckaroos, adults can take a first-timer lesson skiing or riding. The package includes: a 2.5 hour beginner lesson, rental equipment from our Burton Learn To Ride Center and a limited access lift  ticket. However it is only valid for adults age 13+, Sunday through Friday, and can be purchased on line only. Best way to kick start your first day!

Party in the Pub all weekend long with the legendary John Rice and fam! As the general manager of Sierra, music is just one of many hobbies and talents John and his family share. Come see for yourself, how rad of a man and talented Sierra's very own GM is!

Tahoe Olympians bringing home the hardware!

Let's just say if Tahoe were its own country, it would be tied with Poland and Italy for the four medals its athletes have already won! From North shore to south, Lake Tahoe athletes are making a historic mark in Vancouver! Nine athletes representing Lake Tahoe and Truckee are making their mark, boot mark that is -and in most cases, a bigger bootprint than the rest of the world.!  At this point, only 12 countries out of the total  83 countries can say they've outperformed Tahoe.....yowzza!

I'm sure you can call out (or I hope at least) one of the 3 Tahoe grown athletes to land a spot on the podium? Here's the lineup on our locals:

Shannon Bahrke: Born and raised in Tahoe city, she received the bronze medal in women's moguls; adding a cherry on top of her 12-year career with the U.S. Ski Team!

Julia Mancusco: This Squaw Valley resident has racked in two silver medals so far; one for Women's downhill last Wednesday and the other for Women's super combined early Thursday.

Hannah Teter: Our girl scored silver in Woman's Halfpipe last Thursday night making her the last athlete of Tahoe so far to get a medal!

More in store:

Look for Julia Mancusco to return to the snow in the women's giant slalom tomorrow and women's slalom Friday, while Tahoe City's Scottie Bahrke - brother of Shannon - looks to medal in Thursday's men aerial finals!

Big shout outs to the rest of Tahoe's shinning stars: Stacy Cook, Daron Rahlves & Errol Kerrof  of Truckee (both downhill & slalom skiers), Elena Height of South Lake Tahoe (Halfpipe), but who rides for Northstar, Nate Holland of Squaw Valley (snowboardcross), and Marco Sullivan of Tahoe City (alpine skiier).

Keep up the support for our locals who are killin' the competition!

Teter takes SILVER in women's Halfpipe!

 Yippee, yeeee, yowzaaaa, YAY for Sierra team rider Hannah Teter, who once again dominated the global competition! Scoring silver in the Women's Halfpipe last night, her runs were so fresh and so clean, clean.  Hannah has been an apart of Sierra's team for 4 seasons and as an Olympian, Sierra is the only resort she calls home! Now that's the ultimate Sierra loyalist! When asking why she rides Sierra, she responded in an interview, “I love shredding the powder pillows of goodness while eating fish tacos and jibbing natural features all over the place!” Thanks Hannah for representing, you're killin it!

Speaking of pipe, now would be the perfect time to get into the spirit and scope out the spankin new 400 foot long Superpipe! As the only Superpipe to reside in South Lake Tahoe, which is home to Hannah, it's a  must to put your skills to the test!

In addition to the newly opened Superpipe, we offer 5 award winnin parks that are ready for you to bust a move! Okay, I'm almost done bragging....just one more small, not of any importance, minuscule thing: SNOW Conditions! We are at our peak - with a 90 inch base and 317 inches of cumulative snowfall for the season! Starting this weekend  we are going to see a system move in which we can expect  3-6 inches to our solid base (better be praying on a daily basis for those fresh flurries)! Mid-Season Pleasin!

Hello Sierra lovers! The season is flying by and the question is.....have you stopped by!? We have some BIG news for you that will make you want to get your winta goods and head into the woods! Not only do we have events on full blast for the Holiday weekend as well as next week, but also the GRAND OPENING of South Shores only SUPERPIPE...which said hello yesterday and is here to stay for the season! 

One-hundred percent of the mountain is open with all 6 of our terrain parks dialed and over 35 features on the mountain! Give a lil love tap to the Neff bonk in the Alley or say adios as you launch off a kicker in Bashful! Castle, which is our steepest trail and highest angle groomed is open and ready for domination!

 

So bring your boo and scope out what's new today! Happy heart day, i'll see you on the slopes!?

Powder, Parties & Parks...oh my!!

What a weekend we have in store! What's up Sierra lovers, what could be better than a weekend filled with rad events (prizes and drink + food specials included), fresh powder and dialed parks!? So here's the breakdown of why this weekend will be epic!

Pray for Powder:

Starting tonight, NOAA is forecasting 3-7 inches possible by tomorrow morning and will continue to fall through Sunday, as we are expecting a total of  12-14" by then. Make sure to keep those snow prayers going! Along with great conditions, we have a line-up of events that will make for a super weekend & parks that will get your adrenaline pumping!

Party Hardy:

Live music in the Pub (Saturday 4pm-6pm): There's nothing better than kicking back after a great day on the hill. Visit The Pub at the end  of the day (Saturday, Feb. 6th) for live music by Mark Castro Band, known to be an "energetic musical ensemble featuring classic rock"!

3rd ever Ralston Cup (Sunday 10am-2pm): Ralston Snowskates is once again bringing snowskating's biggest slopestyle/slalom event to our mountain! Anyone can enter and cash prizes will be awarded!

 
Super Bowl Sunday Bash (11am-6:30pm):

Pre-Game activities:

• $10 off lift ticket - Any person wearing a jersey of any NFL team will receive a $10 off lift ticket coupon to use on a future date.
• Accuracy and Distance throwing Contest - Think you can throw like a pro? Take your gamble from 11am to 12pm outside the learning area.

During the Game:

• Party Favors - The first 100 guests who enter the Pub at 2:00 p.m. (game starts @ 3:00 pm) will receive party favors. (While Supplies Last).
• Drink Specials - $4 Touchdown shots, $10 pair of Red Bull shooters.
• Food Specials - ½ priced appetizers including “NFL” Nachos, “Wild-card” Wings, and “First & Ten” fish & chips.
• Prizes - Football trivia will be played during commercial breaks with prizes.

Halftime:

• Frozen T Shirt Contest
• Kid's Pinata
• Winner of the K2 PBR Snowboard is Announced - From now until game day, anyone (of age of course) that purchases a PBR beer in The Pub is entered into a drawing for this custom snowboard

Parks & Pipes are pumping:

We can easily say that are parks are the best they've been in the last five years, and with the amazing conditions that means our mountain is the place to be for a full day of fun from the trees to the groomers to the parks. We have 5 parks open (Super pipe's on it's way) & each one caters to different ability levels: 

Burton Progression Park: Check out the small jumps and low-to-the ground boxes on Upper Snowshoe to build your freestyle confidence.

Smokey Boarder X: Tahoe's Original Boardercross park is perfect for any ability level. 

Bashful:  Check out the post-dumping makeover Bashful received. It's the ultimate slopestyle medium park right now with challenging rails, boxes and jumps.

The Alley: The Alley is open and ready for domination. Check out the highly anticipated staircase, Neff Bonk and the perfect large features (pictured to the right).

Broadway: Cruise through Broadway for a variety filled park with small and medium features- it's a great zone to begin stepping up to street style rails, different types of jibs, and table top lines.
