bdi . . bdi . . bdi . . That's All Folks!

Well guys, it's all over. The lifts have stopped turning, the grooming cats are snugly parked in their garages for the summer, the terrain park boxes are lined up in the parking lot for summer maintenance and the friendly employees are scattering to the summer winds . . . here's a little breakdown of the highlights from this year . . .

December - little bit of a later start than we like, but pretty normal for the High Sierra weather pattern. We saw close to 140 inches of snow in November and December and Christmas Day was one of the best powder days of the season! And no wind-holds!

January - beautiful blue skies for the first part of the month, then another 46 inches of snow toward the end of the month. And no wind-holds!

February - one of the best President's Day Weekends in history! Sierra Resort got close to another 140 inches during the month. There was powder for days in the trees and the Huckleberry Canyon gates opened for adventurous expert skiers and riders. Oh yeah - and no wind-holds!

March - the first weekend in March was probably the best conditions of the season with over 7 feet of snow falling in the first week. In all, we got 122 inches throughout the month but nothing will live on in my memory like that first bluebird powder weekend with snow so deep you were just praying not to fall . . still no wind-holds!

April - another 20 inches in April but the real treat was the warm temperatures, the spring conditions, the sun on your face and the beer in your hand (over 21 of course!). Telegrass, the Salsa Showdown - it was quintessential Sierra love all over the mountain . . . . and, you guessed it, no wind-holds!

So all in all, Sierra got 470 inches of snow during the 08-09 season! Saaahhhhhweeeeet!

Ronery .... Sooooo Roneryyyyy

Alright dudes ... hope you're not waiting any longer to get out on the snow because you only have TWO DAYS LEFT SILLIES! Tomorrow score $20 lift tickets on customer appreciation day and meet me out on the slopes for our last runs ... (I know I'd totally give a down thumb for the closing too but all good things have to come to an end sometime)

Well It's finally here ... the end of the season and my oh my how it went by so fast. It was a fun run and we'll all be back in just a couple of months to do it all over again imagine that. The temps up here have been soooo unbelievably warm and sunny and fun to play in the snow. You can get out there today and enjoy our three parks, awesome superpipe, and 42 trails of slippin and slidin white goodness.

Tomorrow will be our LDOC BABY (last day of class for you oldies)! So get your bros together for a brodown or bromance or whatever you crazy kids call it these days and swoop up that $20 lift ticket you deserve for being one of Sierra's besties. Oh and you're gonna want to get your season pass for next year before prices go up on May 1st don't forget about that! I've had a fantastic time filling you all in with the behind the scenes info and up to the minute deets but it's time for me to say PEACCEEE! I'll be out on the hill all day tomorrow (for what I've heard to be one of the most awesome and fun days of the season) so shoot me a "Whatt'ss goood?!" if we happen to cross paths. This is it ... Down to the last weekend of Sierra's 08/09 Season

It's almost time to say bye bye to the season but we have a few days left for you to get out on the snow. Conditions are still awesome as we've seen 3-5 inches in the past week and a season total of just over 470"! The weather is looking to be nice bright and sunny for the weekend with temps reaching into the high 60's on the mountain and mid 70's in town! The beach party will be rockin and trust me ... I will be there!

Just a few updates for ya and some deals for you to score in the last dwindling days. If you're cruising up to ride the next three days a 3pak is still your best deal at $49 a day. Only wanna spend our closing day with us? Then you're scoring $20 lift tickets that day and afternoon priced rentals! Finally if your gear is lookin a little tired head into the rental and retail shops and score there as well. Clothing is discounted at 50% off, hardgoods which includes boards, bindings, boots, all the good stuff is down to 40% and the demo boards in retail are greatly reduced up to 50% or more!

Hopefully I'll see you riding on 4/20 with all the cool kids ... trust me this day is off the heezyy for sheezyy! If you missed out on the Salsa Showdown I've added a little vid for you to see all the fun you missed out on.

Oh and P.S. just wanted to let you know Sierra is keeping it real and RSNTV voted your loyal snowreporter here the "BEST snowreporter in the Tahoe Region" .... oh snapppsss don't wanna brag or anything (jk YEAH I DO!) 5 Days and Counting ... Pull the boards out for a few more days of shreddin'

It's getting down to the wire and the season is coming to a close! BOO! I know I know I wish we could ride all year long too but you know what ... we can't... so suck it up kids and get ready for the last few days of the season! I can't believe how fast the last few months have swept by but all in all it's been an awesome time up here with over 470" of epic Sierra pow falling on our slopes. Actually ... It's off and on snowing out my office window right now as I'm typing you this most awesome update. This weekend should be prime time with nothin but sunny skies on the horizon with temps in the ... GET THIS LOW 70'S (excuse me beach day on the snow or whuuuu!!)

Monday April 20th our final day of the 08/09 season and is our day to give back to you so actually it's YOUR DAY! A favorite of locals and loyal Sierra riders alike you can't go wrong with $20 dollar lift tickets and an all day Sierra Lover celebration. 11" of Fresh and 11 Days to Enjoy It!!

Snow in Spring?! Yep Snow in Spring!!!

We're saying goodbye to the season right with a nice healthy helping of fresh snow and packin it full of events till the end just to keep you busy. (Cause we're rad like that!) The snow is still falling just in time for Easter Weekend so make those plans now for your last powder turns of the 08/09 season! We hate to see it go but at least this last powder dump will make it memorable. Ski Patrol has recorded just about 11" from the storm so far and with it continuing to fall up untill Friday Night we may be skiing and riding into the weekend on just over a foot and a half! The weather should see a change for the weekend tho giving us a nice sunny Saturday and Sunday to relax and celebrate. P.s. a little Tahoe Insider Tip ... Check out our buddy up at Northstar, Bryan's weather blog for all the latest weather changes and info in and around the Lake Tahoe region. It's def my first place to check out the forecast and get it straight... I dunno how he does it but it's always dead on!

So you want a free season pass for next year? Then start working on that Salsa and bring 2 HOMEMADE cups of it down to the Baja Grill in Westbowl by noon and enter it in our 2nd Annual Salsa Showdown to crown the Salsa King or Queen! With music from a live mariachi band, pinatas for the kids, and a taco eating contest this conclusion to Sierra's Spring Fiesta will be the season ending party you want to be at!

***Sunday Dog Days of Spring & 1st Annual Tahoe Basin Professional Ski Patrol Olympics *** 

So you know those adorable dogs that work hard at all your favorite mountain resorts around the area? They're getting together for a friendly competition this Sunday and you're invited to come watch. If you're a local ski patrol with one of those awesome dogs then come on out and show you're stuff. It's all starting at 11 am so check it out!

Sing it kids ... Now it's time to say goodbye to all our company, S-I-E ... See you real soon! E-R-A ... ay? Because we like you. GOODBYE SIERRA FROM YOU AND ME! We want to spend Sierra at Tahoe's Closing Day with our BFF's (you duh silly) and we also want to hook it up with $20 tickets! So you're invited .. don't say I didn't invite you! An early delivery from the Easter Bunny!

The Easter Bunny and Mother Nature must be in cahoots! Sierra woke up to 2-3 inches of fresh snow and it is still coming down. The forecast is saying we could get another 2-5 inches during the day today and the wintery weather will stick around through Friday, clearing up for the weekend. PERFECT!

So dig deep in the gear bag for those winter layers (hopefully you washed them after the last cold days) and come on out to get another taste of winter. There are twelve days of the 08-09 season left to go and you should be getting in as many runs as you can. Cuz you know July is going to roll around and you'll be jonesing for this . . . .  .

Rumors Rumors Rumors ... Super top secret photo shoots ... ohhhh snap?!

So there are lots of rumors going around about super top secret photo shoots going on at Sierra so we wanted to let the cat out of the bag and fill you, our besties, in on the delio. The Transworld Team Shootout is going on at four different resorts across the country right now and we're in the middle of the battle! Sierra-at-Tahoe is teaming up with the rockin Forum team to compete against DC at Northstar-at-Tahoe, the Burton team at Aspen, and the Rome team at Bear. Sierra has been working around the clock to build super secret features around the resort for the Forum team to dominate and destroy in photos and video shoots over the next few days. With insane riding by the Forum Crew, Sierra-at-Tahoe is committed to pushing the envelope and is working hard to come up with creative and mind-blowing visuals to dominate this contest and come out on top. You will be able to check all of this out on TV and in the mags in the upcoming months so stay tuned .... Booya!

Sierra-at-Tahoe's Spring Fiesta Marches Onward ...

There's a few weeks left in the season and with over 452" this season alone conditions are still fantastic. Stoked that we have North facing slopes to keep the snow outta the sun most of the time as well as the old growth trees that surround the resort and act like a big umbrella :) Telegrass is going on now and the resort was packed yesterday with smiling faces under the sunshine listening to live music on the Tiki Bar sippin on cold seasonal brews from Fat Tire. So perf!

Just a reminder if you have any type whatsoever of Sierra or Northstar season passes ... all restrictions have been lifted! You can ski and ride any day you want at either Northstar or Sierra with whichever type of pass you have so take advantage. Also you're gonna wanna renew that pass or if godforbid you don't have one at all PICK IT UP NOW! Pay for your pass this year and ski/ride for FREE the rest of this season and into next. FREE SKIING ANYONE?

Spring Fiesta is continuing on next weekend with another slew of events for ya so check em out!

Salsa Showdown is returning to West Bowl!

Sierra is doin it big with a celebration of spring with a fiesta in the Baja Grill. Here's the lo down ... get those chilies out (not the hot chilis you wear to keep warm) the yummy tasty ones you eat and go ahead and whip up your award winning "to-die-for" Salsa. Done?! Ok ... Trek up to Sierra this upcoming Saturday April 11th and enter that bomb.com salsa by noon for tastin and judgin. Four suprise employee judges will be choosing and crowning the salsa king or queen as winner who will receive drum roll please ... AN 09/10 SEASON PASS. whuuu? All that for making Salsa .. Check, sign me up! The rockin fiesta continues with a live Mariachi band, taco eating contest, prize-filled piñatas for kids and adults alike, and food and drink specials. AYE AYE AYEEEEEEE yeeee YEEEEEE!!!??!?!?

Easter Sunday Funday and Dog Days of Spring!

Sunday April 12th is just one more day we're bringin to you packed with family events. Starting out with our family favorite Easter festivities Sierra brings a new meaning to the term "Snow Bunny" Hop on over for the egg toss, egg hunt, cool prizes, and a special appearance by the Easter Bunny himself!

The Dog Days of Spring and the 1st Annual Tahoe Basin Professional Ski Patrol Olympics are taking over the resort on Sunday the 12th as well. This is your chance to laugh, harass, and cheer on our loyal ski patrollers of the Tahoe Basin as well as their awesome dogs in action! All the games will begin around 11 am and ski patrol is requesting all search and rescue dogs of the Tahoe Basin to make it out for this 1st ever competition and head to head friendly battle! Upcoming Weather

The 3" we received on Friday was a nice frosting to whiten up the slopes but the models are calling for a significant amount of precip in a couple of back to back storms that will be blowing through this next week. The storm door is opening and I'll keep you updated but for now it's looking like the mild temps will hold over into Monday. We should see a dramatic change in weather on Tuesday afternoon with snow continuing throughout the evening and into Wednesday. We could see upwards of 6-12" from this storm but every day it's looking better as the bulk of the storm is aiming for the crest (right where Sierra is ... YAY) Furthermore; a storm is brewing with colder and possibly wetter conditions for Thursday night which could last all the way into Saturday and then still another on Tuesday the 14th! So basically I'm just letting you know ... Winter is not over and we may still see a few more powder runs before closing day!

Whoa Whoa Whoa .... It's not over yet!!

Sup sillyfaces!! Sorry I haven't been updating as much as I should It's been a crazy crazy month up here at Sierra. You'd think that Winter was over but NOAA is forcasting an oreo cookie like storm system for us. Mmmmmm Yummy! Cold temps for tonight into Friday and a nice possibility of some snow accumulation on Monday sandwiching that awesomely good creamy center of mild warm temps in-between for the weekend! Couldn't be better ... Right?! Right!

EVENTS EVENTS EVENTS!!!!

Got a bunch more fun events planned for you throughout April kicking off this weekend! The 6th Annual Telegrass Festival is taking over the resort on Saturday and Sunday with live bluegrass music, equipment demos on next years brand new tele gear, fresh seasonal brews on tap from Fat Tire, races, prize giveaways, and an all around good time!

Also this Saturday is Sierra's 1st ever College Co-ed Shred Day ... SPRING BREAK BROOO!

If you have a Valid College ID then bust that baby out and get up here to ski/ride for only 40 bones!! That's only two jacksons that you'd prolly waste at the bars with bad decisions anyways! Go for the snow ... It's always more satisfying!

Sierra's scheduled last day is Monday, 4:20 (conditions permitting). You only have a few weeks left and we want to thank you our loyal besties of Sierra for spending an awesome season with us by offering you $20 lift tickets ... whuu?! We've received over 450" this season and the conditions are still so fantastic thanks to the deep snow pack and North facing slopes so I better see you out there.

Come get your fill before you're sitting around all Summer wishing you would've got more days in! I know who you are ... Smiles, Snow, and Sun!! Get Your Spring Slayin' On ...

I have been loving these early spring mornings at Sierra. Getting here at 5 am gives me the chance to walk around the resort ... take in what a beautiful peaceful place this is and realize how lucky we are to be able to take advantage of it. Since I last updated you Sierra received over 33 inches of snow over the weekend and the conditions have been so absolutely fantastic and fun. I dunno bout you but Spring is my favorite time to get out on the snow. No need to worry about snow hurricanes bee stinging you in the face or bundling layer upon layer just so your fingers don't fall off. It's days like these where you can ride in just a t-shirt with sunscreen slopped on your face, racing your friends down Powderhorn, taking a lunch/bar break out in Westbowl and just chillin on Sierra's slopes. I wouldn't trade that feeling for the world. Some friends of mine stopped into town the past few days ... and photog extroidinare CBennett offered up some awesome pics for ya while we were out yesterday ridin so check em out above ...

Closed Circuit is goin to be rockin the pipe this Saturday with a beach party pirate takeover. Lookout for the unveiling of the brass bell jib and the treasure chest loaded with cash. This is not your run of the mill serious pipe event ... just time to chill with your friends, kick back with a live dj, and ride the walls in the sun. Prizes for pirate lookalikes and only 5 bucks to enter!

P.s. Pass restrictions are gettin' thrown out the window on Saturday as well ... Any Sierra/Northstar pass you have whether it's a Double Whammy or a Value or a Sierra Only will work at either resort ... any day of the season ... until close! So take advantage and get your shread on ... Smash
